Leaving the potted hydrangeas behind as I head out to the Willamette Writers Conference in Portland OR with Whitewashed Jacarandas in hand.
Off to the Willamette Writers Conference!
Hi Everybody!
I want to thank every single one of my Inner Circle readers for the precious summertime they have devoted to reading, commenting and completing the questionnaire on Whitewashed Jacarandas, (even though one remarked that they never thought they would have to write another college paper! 🙂 ) All the feedback has been very instructional and insightful and most of all a great moral booster as I head out to the Willamette Writers Conference tomorrow. I’ve made a number of edits based on their feedback while I contemplate more serious changes after the conference. Next week I will post a few excerpts of my Circle’s wonderful feedback (anonymously).
I went to the conference four years ago to find out what it was all about (it’s one of the big 5 in the nation) and serendipitously roomed with the most dynamic young author Marni Bates who sold two Young Adult novels in four minutes when she Pitched the Pros on the eve of the conference, and became an instant celebrity and darling of the conference. We’ve become fast friends. She has published 5 novels since then and is tackling murder mysteries now. http://www.kensingtonbooks.com/author.aspx/26087. What an inspiration! Over marionberry crisp and hot chocolate last week in Portland she coached me on the 2 minute ‘elevator’ pitch. And with long distance direction from Andrew Davis, my marketing guru son in Boston, I am ready to blow them away with Whitewashed Jacarandas!
Keeping you all in the know as the saga of my book experience unfolds…
